BLS For Airplane Batteries

The BLS will rejuvenate old lead-acid batteries that are used in aircraft applications. The most common model used for aircraft’s is the BLS-12/24B. We do not recommend installing the BLS permanently on the aircraft.  It can be used to maintain or rejuvenate batteries on the ground.

Rejuvenating and Maintaining Aircraft Batteries

You will need:

  • BLS-12/24B
  • 12 or 24 volt Battery Charger (2 to 10 amps)
  • Daily timer (optional)

Step 1:

Test for a Bad Battery:  The BLS cannot recover a battery with a short or open cell. To test for this, please visit this page.

Step 2:

Attach the BLS and fully charge the battery or batteries.

Step 3:

Disconnect of turn of the charger, leaving the BLS attached.  Let the BLS slowly drain the batteries for 10 to 18 hours (you can attach a small load, like a light bulb, to drain the batteries).

Best Practice: Use a daily timer to automatically turn the battery charger on and off every day.

Step 4:

Repeat Steps 2 & 3 until the battery reaches optimal condition or when the battery is ready for use.

BLS Models:

"I am an RV owner. I want to tell you that the Battery Life Saver brought back my $225 battery that was in very bad shape. It took a while but it’s still working great. It makes me very happy."
